Have you ever felt like you're working against yourself? You set yourself high goals, push yourself through the day and end up wondering why everything is so exhausting. This phenomenon has a name: inner resistance. But what exactly is it and how can we overcome it?
Inner resistance - the invisible opponent
Inner resistance is the barrier that prevents us from living our lives with confidence and trust. They arise from patterns, beliefs and external expectations learnt over the years. Maybe you think:
‘I can't be weak.’
‘Success means sacrifice.’
‘If I rest, I'm lazy.’
Such thoughts keep us locked in a constant battle against ourselves. Instead of swimming with the current, we row against it - and wonder why we're not making any progress.
Why we remain so stubborn
Our inner resistance often has an apparent benefit: They give us the feeling of being in control. But in reality, they make us tired and take the joy out of the little things in life. The desire to do everything perfectly or the fear of not fulfilling expectations drive us into the stress-success-cycle.
The path to more ease
The first step is to consciously recognise your inner resistance. Ask yourself: Where am I fighting against myself? This often manifests itself in exhaustion, frustration or a feeling of stagnation. Once you have recognised these resistances, you can work on them.
Here are three strategies:
Acceptance instead of resistance: Stop fighting your feelings. Recognise them without judging them. Negative emotions are not an enemy, but a signal that something is wrong.
Work with the flow of life: Instead of overwhelming yourself, organise your daily life according to your natural energy phases. Find out when you are productive and schedule important tasks for these times.
Take small steps: You don't have to solve everything at once. Set yourself small, realistic goals that move you forward step by step. Celebrate every step of progress - celebrating helps you to change deep-seated beliefs about success.
Practical exercise: the 3-minute rule
When you feel your inner resistance coming up, pause for a moment. Take three minutes and answer the following questions:
What am I really feeling right now?
What would do me good right now?
What small step can I take next?
This short exercise will help you regain control over your feelings and refocus on the essentials.
Conclusion
Inner resistance is not an enemy, but a signpost to greater awareness and inner balance. If we learn to work with them instead of fighting them, we can direct our energy towards what is important - a life full of joy, balance and lightness.
Are you ready to let go of your inner resistance and find your natural flow in life? The first step starts today.
